Day by Day of Our Expedition
DAY 1: THE ADVENTURE BEGINS (Santa Elena/ Paraytepuy/ Tek River)
Our expedition starts in Santa Elena de Uairén with an energizing breakfast before boarding 4x4 vehicles to venture into the heart of the Gran Sabana. During a two-hour journey on dirt roads, we will witness the majestic tepuy chain of the Guiana Shield, highlighting the silhouettes of Roraima, Kukenán, and Yuruaní. Upon arriving at Paraytepuy de Roraima (1,400 m.a.s.l.), we will meet our team of indigenous Pemón porters, who will handle the logistics and supplies. The trekking begins with a descent through a dense transition forest, home to the iconic White Bellbird (Procnias albus), followed by an ascent toward a vast, ancient savanna. After a journey of approximately 12 km (7.5 miles) of contemplative hiking under the gaze of the "Lost World," we will reach the banks of the Tek River. Here, our base camp will already be established, allowing us to enjoy the first sunset in front of the imposing vertical walls of Mount Roraima. (-/L/D)
ROUTE DATA .
Walking distance: 13.5 km
Estimated time: 4/5 hrs
Altitude: 1,200m (Paraitepuy)
Elevation difference: 150m (Paraitepuy/ Kukenán River)

DAY 2: THE MIGHTY KUKENÁN RIVER (Tek River/ Kukenán River/ Base Camp)
We begin our day at dawn to witness the sunrise over the vertical walls of both Kukenán and Roraima. Following a revitalizing river bath and an energizing breakfast, we set off to cross the indomable Kukenán River. As we advance through a steady but moderate ascent, the perspective shifts, and we begin to discern the intricate details of the main wall and the emblematic Maverick formation—the highest point of the tepuy. The savanna ecosystem gradually gives way to a series of rolling hills that serve as the threshold to Base Camp, nestled at the foot of the imposing quartzite massif. After lunch, we will take advantage of the afternoon to enjoy the freezing, pristine waters of nearby streams and conduct a visual reconnaissance of The Ramp the natural path for the following day’s ascent. (B/L/D)
ROUTE DATA .
Walking distance: 9 km
Estimated time: 4/5 hrs
Altitude: 1,950m (Base Camp)
Elevation difference: 900m (Kukenan River/ Base Camp)

DAY 3: CONQUERING THE LOST WORLD (Base Camp/ Summit)
We begin the historic ascent following the route charted by Im Thurn and Perkins in 1884, the first explorers to crown the summit. We will trek through a lush cloud forest, using roots and trunks as natural support while discovering endemic botanical species such as the majestic Brocchinia cordylinoides and the nutritious Stegolepis guianensis. The trail leads us to cross the mythical waterfall of the ramp, known as the Step of Tears (Paso de las Lágrimas), surrounded by ancient giant tree ferns. Upon reaching the summit (2,723 m.a.s.l. / 8,933 ft), the landscape transforms into a surreal scenery of sandstone formations, sculpted over millennia by wind and water, evoking the surface of another planet. After a final 45-minute hike, we will arrive at the Hotels—imposing rocky overhangs that provide natural shelter against the elements. We will conclude the day with an exploration of the Jacuzzis, natural quartz pools with crystal-clear waters that invite contemplation from the roof of the world. First night on the summit. (B/L/D)
ROUTE DATA .
Walking distance: 6 km
Estimated time: 5/6 hrs
Altitude: 2,725m (Hotels)
Elevation difference: 770m (Base Camp/Summit)
Meals included: B/L/D
Overnight stay: Tents in Caves (hotels)

DAY 4: THE VERTEX OF NATIONS (Valley of Crystals/ Triple Point/ El Foso)
After breakfast in our natural "Hotel," we will begin a trek across the upper plateau toward the emblematic Triple Point. Our first stop will be the Valley of Crystals, the most extensive formation of exposed quartz on the tepuy, where the ground glimmers under an ancestral light. We will continue our march until reaching the Geographical Landmark that marks the border where Venezuela, Brazil, and the Esequibo territory converge—a point of great geopolitical and mystical significance. To culminate the day, we will explore El Foso, an impressive circular sinkhole that shelters a waterfall and an underground pool. Here, in the heart of the rock, we will enjoy a boxed lunch and, for the most daring, the opportunity for a revitalizing swim in the coldest and purest waters of the summit, surrounded by an atmosphere that seems frozen in time. Second night on the summit. (B/L/D)
ROUTE DATA .
Walking distance: 11.5 km x 2 (23 km)
Estimated time: 5 hrs x 2 (10 hrs)
Altitude: 2,734m (Triple Point)
Elevation difference: 15m (Hotel/ Triple Point)
Meals included: B/L/D
Overnight stay: Tents in Caves (hotels)

DAY 5: ON THE EDGE OF THE WORLD (La Ventana/ The Maverick/ Summit Gardens)
This day is dedicated to a deep exploration of the summit's best-kept secrets. We begin very early toward La Ventana (The Window), a natural viewpoint where the eastern wall of Roraima drops vertically to reveal the imposing Kukenán Tepuy ahead and, hundreds of meters below, the dense, virgin Guianan rainforest. After a late breakfast at camp, we will spend the day traversing labyrinths of crevices, natural botanical gardens, and quartz pools, observing the endemic fauna that has evolved in total isolation. To top it all off, we will ascend to the highest point of the plateau: The Maverick (2,810 m.a.s.l. / 9,219 ft). From this formation, which dominates the horizon, we will gain a spectacular panoramic view of the entire Gran Sabana, allowing us to contemplate from the heights the route we have conquered in the previous days. Third night on the summit. (B/L/D)

DAY 6: THE DESCENT FROM THE HEIGHTS (Summit/ Base Camp/ Tek River)
Today we bid farewell to the summit of the Lost World, beginning our technical descent via The Ramp. Along the way, we will have our final opportunity to observe the Oreophrynella quelchii, the iconic Roraima black frog. This small amphibian, unique in the world and a survivor of extreme conditions, is the living symbol of the evolutionary isolation of the tepuys. We will make a strategic stop at Base Camp to rest and recharge with a restorative lunch before continuing our trek across the savanna. We will once again cross the historic Kukenán River until reaching the banks of the Tek River, where we will set up our final mountain camp beneath the silhouette of the stone giant we have just conquered. Upon crossing the park's exit threshold, we will bid farewell to our local team of porters and board the 4x4 vehicles. We will make a stop at the Indigenous Community of San Francisco de Yuruani to enjoy a traditional lunch—a perfect opportunity to purchase local handicrafts and share the final anecdotes of the expedition. Finally, we will return to Santa Elena de Uairén, concluding one of the most intense and transformative adventures in the Guiana Shield with a renewed spirit and the satisfaction of having conquered the summit of Mount Roraima.
